It is proposed that t√aoeho®r means ‘clear’ (in God’s sight), and that the term is used to connote that the objects which it modifies are going to be used in a ritual. Furthermore, an inquiry is made into the question of why in Leviticus 24:1-9 only the lampstand and the table are modified by the term. It is concluded that these are comparable to clean sacrificial animals before the Lord, and to the clear space beneath the feet of God (Exod. 24:10).
