| 内容記述 | 本稿では、大正期から戦時期にかけて、キリスト教の枠内だけではなく、全関西婦人連合会の政治・法律部委員長としてキリスト教の枠組みを超えた一般の婦人運動の中でもキリスト者としての信仰を保持しつつ、30年以上にわたり中心的な役割を果たした錦織久良（1889［明治22］–1949［昭和24］）を取り上げた。錦織は、佐渡出身のキリスト者歌人・文筆家であり、女性運動家と呼ぶこともできる。錦織は長岡女子師範学校を卒業後、キリスト教に入信した。教員を経て、共立女子神学校にて学び、その後は錦織貞夫と結婚し、二人の男の子をもうけた。結婚後の錦織の活動の中心地は、自宅のある大阪を基点とした関西であった。錦織は生涯で250件以上の諸雑誌等への寄稿や著書を残しているが、本稿では、活動初期である日本基督教婦人矯風会機関誌『婦人新報』への寄稿を考察することで、錦織のキリスト教信仰と女性運動への動機を明らかにした。錦織は40代になってから全関西婦人連合会において中心的な役割を担うようになるが、家庭における妻と夫の貞操観の不平等への強い憤り、そこからキリスト教信仰に見出した救い、そして公娼全廃への明確な使命感と確信があったことが明らかになった。またその公娼制度全廃への執念とキリスト教信仰とが不可分のものとして捉えられていた。さらに、錦織が矯風会に出会った時期と、矯風会での公娼全廃の機運の高まりの時期が重なったことも、錦織にとっての必要と矯風会の必要とが一致したともいえる。ここに、錦織の後のキリスト教信仰の文芸活動と、特に40代になってからの全関西婦人連合会における精力的な活動の原点を見出すことができる。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | This paper focuses on Kura Nishigori (1889-1949), who played a central role in the women’s movement for more than 30 years from the 1910s to the wartime period. Nishigori maintained her Christian faith both within the Christian world and within the women’s movement beyond the Christian framework, such as serving as the chairperson of the Political and Legal Division of The Federation of Women’s Societies of Western Japan. In her lifetime, Nishigori contributed to more than 250 magazines and other publications. This paper examines her contributions to Fujin Shimpo: the Journal of The Japan Christian Women’s Organization, in the early stages of her activities, in order to clarify her Christian faith and her motivations for the women’s movement. It is clear that her strong resentment toward the inequality of chastity between wives and husbands in the home, her clear sense of mission and conviction toward the abolition of licensed prostitution, and the salvation she found in her Christian faith were all factors that motivated her to take a central role in The Federation of Women’s Societies of Western Japan when she was in her 40s. | |||||
